How Rude!

So, Jeremy, Haley and I went to the bank this evening to cash one of our tax refund checks. We hardly ever have to stand in line at our bank. Well, everyone else and their uncle must have gotten their checks too because there were about 6 other people waiting. I know that must not seem like a lot but, like I said, we hardly ever have to wait. Anyway, there we were waiting patiently, when I noticed what I assume was a mom and her 3 kids. I noticed her because she was not standing behind us like the rest of the line. She was standing BESIDE us. Jeremy and I looked at each other I thought Hmm.... Jeremy said "She's going to cut in front of us." I thought, surely not! Not here in this great state of California where people treat others with respect and courtesy! Yeah right! So what do you think she proceeds do do when the next teller becomes available? Yep, you guessed it! She knows we are standing there and she bypasses us and goes right up to the teller! I stood there with my mouth hanging open, although I shouldn't have been surprised. If it wasn't for the fact that she was already halfway to the counter, I would have said something. Oh well. Just another day in the good old Bay Area!

Do I smell gas?

It all started as a way to dry our clothes faster and to get $75 from PG&E. As Jeremy said, it sounded so easy. We were given a gas dryer and Jeremy, being an electrician, did not anticipate any problems. However that was not the case. All he had to do was run some gas pipe to the dryer. He turned off the gas and proceeded to run the pipe. No problems there. Then he turned the gas back on and checked for leaks. Wouldn't you know....the gas valve leaked.....the new gas valve! So we went to Home Depot to get another valve and that one leaked as well! At this point Jeremy was very frustrated. So, he ended up going to Ace Hardware and finally that one worked. And it was made in Italy! I am so proud! This all happened last Friday night. Like a good "citizen", Jeremy called PG&E to notify that he had turned off the gas. They said that they would have to come to the house and check out the work he did. Of course they couldn't come that same day. It would be sometime Saturday after 8:00 in the morning. This did not make me very thrilled because we were supposed to go to San Jose for a 1st birthday party for one of Haley's friends. So, now this meant that I was going to have to drive to San Jose with Haley by myself because you know PG&E were not going to come before we had to leave. Anyone who knows me well knows that I am directionally challenged. My brother says I get lost in my own backyard although I am a little better than that, thank you! Thankfully we have a GPS that Jeremy got for Christmas. I used it and I must say, it was not as bad ad I was anticipating. Because believe me, I was VERY nervous! I prayed the whole way there. God was faithful in holding off the rain so I could see clearly and Haley and I made it to the party in one piece. So, on a happier note, it was so fun to see Haley with the other kids at the party. My baby is growing up right before my eyes.

Jeremy's 30th birthday

My hubby turned 30 on January 17th! We had a party with friends and family.

Christmas 2009

This Christmas held a more special meaning for me because it was Haley's first. I loved seeing it through her eyes even if she didn't quite get it. Christmas Eve we were at my parents house with my mom's side of the family. Everyone was so excited to see Haley and Haley really took to my mom's little cousin, Colten. My dad dressed up as Santa and Haley was a little skeptical about that. I don't think she was afraid but she was not overjoyed either. The Santa suit that my dad wore has been in the family for many years. My mom's grandma made it and played Santa every year for my mom's dad and his brother. After she passed on, it stayed in the family and there have been different Santas over the years. It was so neat to see my dad in that suit carrying on the tradition for my daughter. Christmas Day my family, along with Jeremy's brothers and mom and dad, were at our house. Jeremy and I had our time with Haley in the morning and it was so much fun seeing her open her presents.

Our 4 year anniversary

Jeremy and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary on November 12th. We went away for the weekend and it was the first time I had left Haley overnight. My mom came to our house to stay with her. Jeremy and I spent the night in San Fran and had dinner at the Cliffhouse. We had been there together for our schools' Homecoming 13 years ago. It was very cool to go back all those years later. The next day we went to the California Academy of Sciences. We had also been there together back in the 6th grade but it had changed a lot. I think it is so awesome that I have known my husband since we were kids. How many couples can say that they married their grade school friend?

Trip to Fieldbrook Oct. 2009

The last weekend of October we took a 6 hour drive to visit Jeremy's parents in Fieldbrook. It was a long drive with an 8 month old but it was also a very pretty drive. It was a very quick trip. We drove up on a Friday and came back on Sunday. We had the privilege of hearing Jeremy's dad, Pastor Gene, preach at his new church.

Haley's first trip to the pumpkin patch Oct. 2009

Well, Haley's first pumpkin patch trip did not go as smoothly as planned. But, then again, does it ever go the way you planned when dealing with an infant? The answer is.... NO! She was not happy, to say the least. But, we were glad we went and did manage to get some decent pictures. Better luck next year!
